After launching, you should have a good amount of content already written so that you can split your time between getting the word out and producing additional content. You need to do both and do both effectively. Don’t be discouraged if the growth is slow in the beginning as it likely will be, but just keep going.
We will get into some of these methods in more detail later, but there are definite ways you should consider getting the word out. I recommend doing all of these to some extent as it will increase your level of success. Check out the following ways to get the word out for your new blog:
- Comment on similar blogs in your category
- Participate in a related message board or forum – earn a reputation as someone who knows his stuff
- Offer to write guest posts for related blogs – make sure they are high quality
- Reach out to other bloggers and introduce yourself
- Get listed in blog directories and other sites like Technorati
It is important to realize that these are not one time tasks. You will need to continue to market your blog and get the word out for weeks, months, even years. I have been working one of my blogs for over two years now and I continue to perform each of the five listed tasks continuously with that blog in addition to constantly pumping out new content. As you can see, blogging takes alot of work for any level of success.
As I mentioned above, it will be a slow process for you in the beginning with little results. Don’t be discouraged. If you’re determined to be successful in this part of your life, then you will see results eventually. It takes time. It might be a few months before you feel like you gain any traction. Just keep writing and keep getting the word out. Over time, you will see growth.
