Page Rank is the value assigned by Google to web pages to determine how important they are.  Page rank is a value between zero and ten, and typically indicates the liklihood of your site coming up in search engine results.  Page rank requires back links, and it simply takes time to get back links.  Furthermore, the length of time that your domain has been registered can impact your page rank.

Build An Audience

It takes consistent and quality content over a period of time to develop and build an audience.  By building an audience, you’re likely to increase your traffic and ultimately, your profits.

Build Authority

It also takes time for your audience and readers to trust you as an authority in your field or area of expertise.  By building authority, you build credibility, people will ask for your opinion, people will look to you for insight.  All of these things can lead to online income.

Build Relationships

Relationships are key to any business including blogging and internet marketing.  You can develop relationships with other bloggers and partners that might help you become successful.  Also, you can develop relationships with readers and customers.  This also takes time.

All of these factors will contribute to your ultimate goal: generating online income.

Pick projects or experiments that take actual work, effort and time.  The idea is that your readers are too busy to try something on their own, so they want to read from you whether or not it’s a worthwhile venture.  This is how you get engaged readers and an engaged audience.  This is your priority.

When it comes to building an online business or making money online, it’s all about traffic.  You need quality traffic. So, to get it, put in some work and work on interesting tasks.  Then, tell your readers about what you’ve accomplished.

I’m of the opinion that tracking every aspect of your web business is crucial for success.  For me, I track detailed traffic numbers as well as income numbers every single month.  Then, I compare how I’m doing on a month-to-month basis in each category.  Adsense is no different.

Since Adsense jumps around significantly, track your progress using a three month average.  If you see growth in the three month average, you’re in good shape.  Don’t be discouraged by a drop one month.  If your three month average is trending higher, that’s all you should worry about.

This type thing has happened for me recently.  When it comes to progress in an online business, we’re usually referring to traffic or income (or both).  In my case, it’s both.  I’ve enjoyed another leg up in the monthly traffic I’ve been experiencing.  Additionally, it seems like I’ve had an influx of advertising deals and dollars heading my way.  All of a sudden, my modest income stream is inching up to a legitimate income stream where the level of money can actually make an impact in my finances.

This level of income that is able to make an impact is the $500 per month mark in my opinion.  An extra $500 a month can make an impact on anyone’s finances.  It might mean paying off debt or boosting savings, either way, an extra $500 / month is nothing to shake a stick at.  Furthermore, if you can reach this level, you can probably definitely reach higher levels such as $1,000 / month or $3,000 / month.  I think it’s probably harder to go from zero to $500 in monthly income than it is to go from $500 to $1,500 per month.

As you know, I will continue to track my progress and let you know how its going.  Hopefully the next leg up is even bigger and faster than the previous one!

Test this yourself.  Check on the keywords that you’re attempting to place your websites for and do some research on the other sites that are listed high up in the resutls.  You can check the number of backlinks then also check on the length of time since the domain was first registered.  Check on the time using a DNS lookup.

In order to increase your search traffic, you need to get your articles and/or your site listed in the top tier of search results for various keywords or search terms.  There are essentially two strategies to accomplish this:

1. Write keyword specific, highly targeted articles
2. Write more articles and hope that some of them do well for keywords

Interestingly, after writing over 600 articles in the last couple years, I’ve had more success with the latter strategy.  Whenever I have tried #1 and tried to write specific articles for specific keywords, I’ve never had much success.  On the other hand, the best performing articles in terms of search have been articles that I did zero SEO on.  I just got lucky!

I’ve literally had articles that have been ranked #1 in search results for some terms that get hundreds of hits a day.  It’s a great thing.  These were articles that I didn’t target keywords when writing.

I believe your strategy should be mostly to write articles that are written for people versus articles written for search engines.  The search engines will naturally pick up these articles and send visitors your way over time.  If you want to try and target a keyword here and there, that is fine, but I would definitely not over-do it.  I believe you can do more damage “keyword stuffing” than good.  Good luck!

The Good

The good part here is that it doesn’t interfere with Adsense and it allows you to monetize the actual text or verbiage of your site.  From what I understand, you’re not compromising Google’s policies either, so you’re safe to use it in tandem with Adsense.

The Bad

The bad part is that it can be distracting to readers.  Furthermore, the revenue generated from in-text advertising is typically very small in relation to overall revenue or when comparing it to programs like Adsense.  Due to the low revenue, it might not be worth it.

There are extra distractions at home.  In fact, there are plenty of people who can’t effectively work from home.  Some potential distractions might be:

• Television
• Family members
• Friends
• Pet
• Freedom to do non-work things

Since most of us want to work from home due to the added freedom and flexibility that it brings to life, we want to efficiently work a portion of the day (ideally less than 9-5) on a regular basis in order that we can do other things we enjoy during the remainder of the day.

It’s important to setup a regular schedule to where you are really working.  This should be away from other people and should be with minimal distractions like television.  Also, an added way to increase efficiency is to set email check times instead of always having your email open.  This will keep email checking and responding to a set schedule and allow you to be more efficient in getting specific tasks done.

Working from home can be an amazing lifestyle and way to work, but it also brings extra challenges.  Make sure you maximize your efficiency and effectiveness in order to be a successful at-home worker.

Setting up a home office area in your house is important for several reasons.  It allows you to stay organized with your work. This is especially important if you are going to be working as a medical biller. Also, it allows you to set aside your work.  Also, it allows you to set aside your work and come back to it at a later time.

As you’re making your plans and working towards establishing a second home-based income, keep the hoe office in your checklist of things to take care of.  It is not the most important item on the list, but it can definitely help you knock out the other items.
