Guest Posts
We receive many, many requests for guest posts. This is great, but it’s time to filter them a little better. Here are some guidelines. If you don’t follow them, we won’t even read your post. Sorry, we’re just too busy!
Why You Should Write A Guest Post
- You can get great exposure for you and your blog
- Increase your traffic and subscribers
- Best of all, if you’re a financial blog, the traffic you will receive from my blog is qualified, high-quality traffic – the type of traffic you want!
What We’re Looking For
First, let’s go through a list of what we’re NOT looking for.
- Articles that have been rehashed a million times like how to get out of debt, or stuff on various mortgages, etc.
- Articles that are examples of X amount of ways to save money and include recommendations like “stop buying lattes”, “cut back on going out to eat” — we know all this stuff already
- In fact, most list articles are worthless – if you submit to us a list article such as 10 Ways to Invest Better, you have a very small chance of getting it published
- Absolutely no SPUN ARTICLES.
So, what are we looking for? Well, something unique, original, interesting, etc. Here are some tips:
- Either discuss something original or have a unique angle on an old topic
- Back up your article with real data and information — We’re not that interested in your opinion
- For personal finance articles, bring personal experience and real numbers into the article. How much money have you been investing, what has the return been, etc.?
- Interesting connections between events – i.e. Politician X is pushing legislation Y that will affect stock Z
- Longer articles – 750+ words – will have a greater chance of being published but don’t stuff filler content in the article just to get it published. Yes, this means you should probably spend a significant amount of time on this.
How To Submit
We recommend pitching the article idea to us first before you work out a full article. Send us the article title, with an outline of what you’ll be writing about and why this is interesting and why our readers will like to read it.
If we approve your pitch, we want you to send us a full-ready-to-publish article with formatting, html already done. Look at the source of one of our articles to see the usual tags we use. We want to be able to drop this right into Wordpress. Make it easy on us and you increase your chances to get published.
